Instructions for accessing our servers from home computers.
Connecting Using a Mac OS X
- Connect to UO VPN (http://uovpn.uoregon.edu) with your DuckID username and password
- From the Finder menu, go to:
- Go to Connect to server
- In the Server address field, enter for:
· Students (Undergrads and MBAs): smb://lcb-file2/students/[username]
· PhDs: smb://lcb-file2/Home/[username] (Lion/Mt. Lion requires uppercase “H”)
· Faculty/Staff: smb://lcb-file2/Home/[username] - Click on the “+” sign to store this path in the Favorite Servers list.
- Click on Connect
- In authentication dialog box, enter username as ad\[username] (e.g. ad\mreniff)
- Enter current password
- Check Add to keychain and Click on OK
Connecting Using Windows 7
- Connect to UO VPN (http://uovpn.uoregon.edu) with your DuckID username and password
- Start, Select Computer
- Click on Map a drive button on toolbar
- Selected drive letter automatically displayed or choose another unused drive letter. (Letter designation is not important)
- In the Folder field, enter
· For faculty, staff and *PhDs, home directory or M drive: \\lcb-file2\Home\[DuckID username]
· Students (undergrads and MBAs): \\lcb-file2\students\[DuckID username] - Check both checkboxes, the “Reconnect at logon” and “Connect using a “different credentials.”
- In new dialog box titled, “Windows Security”, enter: Username ad\[username] & current password
- Click OK and Finish
Connecting Using Windows 8
- Login to the Windows 8 computer
- Click on Desktop tile
- Double-click on Computer icon.
- Click on Map Network drive on the toolbar. To display toolbar, click on toggle arrow on lower right of toolbar Click on Map Network drive on the toolbar. To display toolbar, click on toggle arrow on lower right of toolbar.

- In Folder, type \\lcb-file2.uoregon.edu\home\[DUCKID]. (Substitute your own DUCKID here. Your DUCKID is the first part of your email address just before the @ sign, i.e.DUCKID@uoregon.edu)
- Check “Reconnect at Logon”
- Check “Connect using different credentials”
- Click Finish
- You will see a Dialog box pop up asking you for your Username and Password.
- Enter “ad\DUCKID” in the Username Box.
- Enter your DuckID password in the Password Box.
- Click OK.

Front desk consultants are located in the reception area of the computer lab in 326 Chiles or by calling 541-346-3311. Tell the technician you are trying to map a drive on a Windows PC or Macintosh so you can access your files from home.
