Biography:

Wayne Mikkelson held the Cameron Distinguished Chair in Finance from 2009 to 2013. He has also served as director of the PhD program at the Lundquist College of Business and as the finance department chair. In addition to the University of Oregon, he has served on the faculty of Dartmouth College, the University of Chicago, the University of Notre Dame, and the University College Dublin.

His research focuses on corporate financing decisions and corporate governance. His published research deals with equity and convertible bond financing, dual class share structures, transactions in the market for corporate control, initial public offerings, corporate spin-offs and carve-outs, corporate liquidity policies, and tracking stock. Currently, he is investigating the stage of development of companies when they decide to go public. He is also investigating the role of cash reserves in explaining how firms fare when an industry goes into a downturn.

Mikkelson received his PhD from the University of Rochester in 1980. He has served as an editor of the Journal of Financial Economics. Currently, he is an advisory editor for the Journal of Financial Economics and an associate editor of the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis.
