Campaign Takes Flight: Join Us

On October 17, the University of Oregon officially entered the public phase of its fundraising campaign with the announcement of a $2 billion effort. It is the most ambitious campaign in the UO's history, and it is also the largest fundraising effort ever undertaken by an organization in the state.

The overall impact of the campaign, according to interim UO President Scott Coltrane, will be unprecedented levels of access for deserving Oregon students, excellence in teaching and research, and a greatly enriched campus experience.

At the Lundquist College, our contribution to the campaign will be significant. For our fundraising goal, Dean Kees de Kluyver has set a target of $100 million and a stretch goal of $130 million.

“At this point in the college's history, growing our faculty is absolutely critical and that is the first priority with this fundraising," de Kluyver said.

Enhancing scholarships, especially at the graduate level, will also be a focus, along with growing our menu of global travel and experiential learning opportunities and continuing to build our Portland presence.

“This is a new day for the University of Oregon," said Chuck Lillis, PhD '72, chair of the board of Trustees of the University of Oregon. “There is a strong sense of purpose across the campus. And there is a shared commitment to tell our unique story, to decide our own future. With the generous support of Ducks worldwide, we will seize this opportunity."

The board's endeavors are congruous with the Dean de Kluyver's strategic plan for the Lundquist College, which includes building up our tenure-track faculty to 60; securing recurring annual income for student scholarships, stipends, and global experiences; providing long-term funding via permanent endowments for our signature centers; and investing in advanced technology.

The breakdown of our $100 million campaign goal is as follows:

  • $22.5 Million for faculty support
  • $34.5 Million for student scholarships and program support
  • $41 Million for experiential learning and centers
  • $2 Million for technology

Though these numbers are large, no gift is too small. We already have a growing and engaged base of alumni and supporters. Over the course of the campaign, we anticipate cultivating an even larger number of new donors to the college, relying on our friends and benefactors to help us achieve our goal and cultivate new relationships.

Only through the munificence of our donors can we realize our true potential as a college and actualize the dreams and ambitions of our students.

There is no better time to give to the University of Oregon and make a historic impact on the state and our collective future.

With your help, we can achieve greatness.
