Path to Becoming a CPA
CPA Licensing Requirements in Oregon
- Effective January 1, 2026, a person may qualify for a CPA license under one of the following three pathways all of which require a minimum of 36 upper division credits in Accounting (ACTG courses at UO):
- Bachelor’s degree and two years (4,000 hours) of qualifying work experience;
- Master’s degree and one year (2,000 hours) of qualifying work experience; or
- Bachelor’s degree with 225 total college credits and one year (2,000 hours) of qualifying work experience.
- Successful completion of all four parts of the CPA exam.
- Completion of a written ethics exam on the Code of Professional Ethics for accountants.
