Biography:

Kit Alderdice began writing professionally in 1987. Since then, she has written about a wide range of topics, including inline skating, floating in an isolation tank, and the children's writer Philip Pullman, author of The Golden Compass. Her articles, author interviews, and book reviews have appeared in The Washington Post, Publishers Weekly, and Child magazine, among other publications.

In 1995, Alderdice began working in interactive media and has done so ever since. She was a contributor to Word Magazine, one of the web's earliest and most influential publications. As the creative director for Washington Sidewalk, she played a key role in launching Microsoft's groundbreaking online arts and entertainment guide in the Washington, DC, market. In 2001, she began work as creative director of veterinary communications company Vetstreet (formerly known as VetInsite), a successful startup that was acquired by health communications giant MediMedia in 2008.

Alderdice received the Dean's College Service Award in 2014.
