Job Shadow Program Debuts

A little knowledge can be a powerful thing—especially when it comes to shaping a career.

This simple but crucial insight is the driving force behind the Lundquist College's brand-new job shadow program.

The program's pilot launched this past December when thirty-five students from the Lundquist College Honors Program were matched with slots at seventeen different organizations.

Host companies included Cambia Health Solutions, Deloitte, Intel, KeyBank, KPMG, NEDCO's Sprout! Program, and Yahoo!, among others.

Starting this winter term, the program is open to all Lundquist undergraduates—though preference is given to sophomore pre-business majors who have not previously participated.

Along with providing on-the-ground knowledge of potential career paths, the program is an opportunity for students to discover exactly what potential employers are looking for. Going forward, they can use this knowledge to choose the courses and internships that fit best with their goals.

Host companies, meanwhile, have the opportunity to help guide potential recruits to gain the skills that the organization most values.

“Participating in the job shadow program allowed us to showcase our company while building our brand and recruiting pipeline," said KeyBank campus recruiter Nicole Quackenbush.
