Microcredentials are short, skills-focused recognition that you earn after successfully completing a Professional Edge training program or immersion. Microcredentials recognize the real-world skills you build through hands-on trainings and immersive experiences. Designed with industry input, each microcredential validates a specific skillset at a specific level of competence—giving you a powerful tool to showcase your achievements to employers.
Each microcredential is:
- Industry-informed and aligned with real-world needs
- Narrowly focused on a specific skillset
- Competency-based, awarded only after demonstrating your skills through activities and assessments
Why earn microcredentials?
- Stay current: Upskill and reskill with training designed for today's job market.
- Strengthen your story: Build a digital identity that clearly communicates your strengths to employers
- Stand out: Verified skills help you distinguish yourself from other applicants
- Keep learning: Develop valuable competencies you can use throughout your career
How do I qualify to earn a microcredential?
Complete a designated microcredential-eligible training or immersion, meet the specific performance criteria, and you'll automatically be awarded a digital badge through Canvas Credentials.
Do microcredentials count for academic credit?
No. Microcredentials are not-for-credit. However, they represent rigorous, activity-first learning that requires you to demonstrate competency through practical application.
