2021 Spark Grant Awardees Announced

Fourteen students were awarded $500 Spark Grants to apply to their venture development. Winning ventures ranged from for-profit to nonprofit businesses and included ideas in the technology, food, e-commerce, agriculture, arts, healthcare, and cryptocurrency industries. Spark Grants are distributed annually to students to use to test their venture’s value proposition and assumptions. The funds can be used to support prototyping, marketing, and legal efforts, as well as technical expertise. This year’s Spark Grant awardees include:

Cole Alan Appler-Swain (undergraduate business administration major) for his sustainable food product venture
Daniel Andrade (MBA student) for his agricultural technology venture
Jessica T. Brown (journalism master's student) for her arts-environment nonprofit, Roots and Soil Studios
Cy Coleman (undergraduate business administration major, finance concentration) for his mental health wearable
Benzamin Dang (undergraduate business administration major, entrepreneurship concentration) for his sustainable skin care brand, Barefaced
Mitchell T. Davey (music composition master's student) for his arts nonprofit
Alex Drews and Sam Muhlheim (undergraduate business administration majors) for their cryptocurrency sports betting venture
Emily Kenyon (MBA student) for her health and wellness platform
Nolan Mayfield (undergraduate business administration major, finance concentration) for his YouTube channel, The College Hustle
Finn Angelina Mifsud (undergraduate philosophy and French major) for her food service venture
Angela Pelky (undergraduate business administration major) for her composting service
Oscar Estuardo Navas Ruano (MBA student) for his fitness brand
Alden Schatz, Mia Lopez, and Ethan Rife (undergraduate business administration majors) for their food budget management system for college students, Waddle
Dharini Srinvasan (MBA student) for her laundry tool
