I grew up in Cairo, Egypt where I enjoyed a professional career that included multiple posts in sales, marketing, human resource management, and as an ethics and corporate social responsibility officer across a few industries. I'm happy to call Eugene home and be a member of the Management department at Lundquist since 2014.
As a business-in-society scholar, my main passion is to understand how we collaborate to deal with the complexity of social and environmental sustainability challenges. This extends to topics such as social innovation and entrepreneurship, the emergence of new institutions and industries, the cross-sector collaborations between stakeholder groups, legitimacy judgments, and strategic responses to field-level dynamics. Theoretically, I'm rooted in institutional theory with work on institutional work, institutional logics, and legitimacy and diffusion. Other research interests include social movements, business ethics, food systems, and art as an engine for community development.
