Margaret Savoian holds a Master of Accounting degree from the University of Oregon, as well as bachelors' degrees in accounting and sociology. She oversees the operations of the college's School of Accounting, including coordination of Accounting Circle activities and special events, development of publications and recruiting materials, and budget and financial management. Previously, she worked as a staff accountant at Kernutt Stokes Brandt & Co. in Eugene.
Savoian has served on the college and university committees for diversity, equity, and inclusion and on college and department committees for accreditation. In 2014, she began taking courses at UO to earn her graduate certificate in nonprofit management. Through her recent coursework, she found many similarities between running a nonprofit and managing an academic unit, discovering a fondness for resource development in the process. Savoian’s role as outreach director includes fundraising, stewardship and cultivation, event planning, communications, and financial management for the department.
