Continuing Investments in Student Success

The University of Oregon Lundquist College of Business is poised to enhance and expand its student success initiatives thanks to the continued generosity of the Braddock Philanthropies.

Funds from the Braddock Philanthropies, a longtime supporter of the college, will power several key programs designed to support student achievement and career readiness. This latest contribution builds upon its decades of sustained support for the Braddock Tutoring Center and the Robert and Lois Braddock Faculty Research Fellowship.

The new Braddock Student Success Fund will enhance several signature programs vital to the college’s strategic growth opportunities for enhancing the student experience.

Expanding Access and Early Support

The fund will enable the college to expand its successful Flight School and Summer Bridge programs, reaching more underserved students and helping them build strong foundations for academic success. These programs have a significant impact in helping students transition successfully to university-level studies.

Professional Edge Program Enhancement

Resources will strengthen the Professional Edge program, expanding services that help students develop crucial career readiness skills and professional networks. This investment will ensure more students can access the event, training, and immersion opportunities that help prepare Ducks for successful careers.

CoLAB: Bridging the Digital Skills Gap

Another centerpiece of the Braddock Philanthropies gift is the establishment of the state-of-the-art CoLAB, which opened in fall of 2024. This innovative space provides students with hands-on experience in essential business technologies. The lab features

  • Professional lab management and student peer trainers
  • Latest software and equipment
  • Collaborative workspaces supporting multiple programs
  • Ongoing technical training and support

Beyond these programmatic investments, the Braddock Philanthropies has also renewed its commitment to faculty excellence with a new fund, complementing its previously established faculty research fellowship. This additional support will help the college recruit and retain top faculty talent, ensuring students learn from outstanding business educators and researchers.

“Our goal has always been to help students achieve their full potential,” said Dr. Katherine Scribner, executive director of Braddock Philanthropies. “We believe these programs will give students the tools, support, and guidance they need to succeed in their studies and careers.”

The Braddock Philanthropies’ latest gift continues its legacy of transformative support for business education at the University of Oregon, focusing on creating comprehensive student success pathways from classroom to career.

Robert Braddock graduated from the Lundquist College of Business with a degree in accounting in 1937 and went on to have a successful career in construction and real estate in the San Leandro, California, area. During their lifetimes, he and his wife Lois were generous supporters of the Lundquist College, making their first of many gifts in 1965. Following their deaths, the Braddock Family Philanthropies has continued the couple’s legacy, supporting the Braddock Tutoring Center, faculty, and scholarships at the UO since the 1990s.

“The ongoing impact of the Braddock Philanthropies’ investments cannot be understated,” said Bruce Blonigen, Edward Maletis Dean of the Lundquist College of Business. “The philanthropy has long served as a key partner to the Lundquist College, and we are honored to be a part of Robert and Lois Braddock’s legacy of investing in student success.”
