The University of Oregon’s Lundquist College of Business welcomed business and industry professionals to connect with students, faculty, and alumni at the fourth annual Real Estate Networking Event, hosted by the student-run UO Real Estate Investment Group (UOREIG). The event took place on Friday, April 4, from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the Bidwell Marriott in downtown Portland (520 SW Broadway).
This signature gathering offered a unique opportunity for leaders in the real estate industry to engage directly with the next generation of talent while learning about the college’s expanding portfolio of real estate programming and initiatives.
Attendees heard from student leaders and faculty on recent academic achievements, including a presentation from the student team behind the University of Oregon’s winning entry in the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) Pacific Northwest Redevelopment Challenge. Guests also enjoyed ample time for networking with students and fellow professionals.
Bruce Blonigen, Edward Maletis Dean of the Lundquist College of Business, emphasized the importance of industry collaboration in supporting the college’s mission.
“We have seen tremendous growth in student interest in real estate, and it is matched by the enthusiasm of industry and alumni partners. Events like this create a two-way bridge—professionals meet top student talent and see firsthand how the Lundquist College invests in real estate education, while our students gain critical exposure to the Portland business community,” he said.
The Lundquist College of Business has recently expanded its real estate curriculum and deepened connections with the Portland metro area through alumni partnerships, experiential learning opportunities, and student-led initiatives like UOREIG.
The UO Real Estate Investment Group is a student organization that provides hands-on learning, real-world exposure, educational resources, and networking opportunities to prepare students for professional careers in real estate.
Thank you to Scott Andrews and Melvin Mark as well as Travis Drilling and NAIOP Oregon for their support in making this event happen.
