This is a two-part series occurring on May 3rd and May 17th from 12-4pm. Participants who attend both days of this program and fulfill all requirements are eligible to earn a Power BI Essentials microcredential from the Lundquist College of Business. Enrollment Deadline: Friday, April 26th Today and every day in the future, organizations you will work for will collect vast amounts of data - and your challenge will be to make sense of it. Excel spreadsheets have their place, but they're static, limited in their ability to visualize data, and time-consuming to build and use. In this training, you will be equipped with the skills to move beyond the confines of stagnant data and transform it into a living, breathing dashboard. After this training, you will be able to confidently use Power BI to: Transform data: Format data to extract actionable insights. Create data models: Present your data intuitively and in a visually engaging way, making it easier for your audience to understand complex information. Visualize data: Tell the story of your data in quick, responsive analytics. Share assets: The power of automation ensures that your data reaches the right people at the right time. In a data-driven world, your ability to extract meaningful insights and make informed decisions is a game-changer.

Power BI empowers you with the skills you need to drive decision-making processes, giving you a competitive edge in the job market. Prompting with Purpose: Generative AI at Work
April 26
10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

You’ve already heard that AI is reshaping the professional landscape. In this two-hour interactive workshop, you will learn how Generative AI tools are being integrated into various industries today, and how you can leverage prompting techniques to gain a competitive edge in your career.

Overview of Generative AI in the Workplace: The workshop begins with an engaging overview of how generative AI is reshaping work. You'll gain insights into real-world applications, from automating routine tasks to driving innovation in fields like marketing, design, and data analysis. This section aims to provide you with a solid understanding of AI's current role and potential in a professional setting.

Learn Prompting Tips and Skills: The core of the workshop focuses on developing practical prompting skills. We'll explore techniques for crafting effective prompts that can aid in common workplace tasks such as report writing, data interpretation, creative brainstorming, and problem-solving. Through interactive examples and guided exercises, you will learn how to communicate with AI tools to get the best results for your specific needs.

Create and Share Work-Ready Prompts: The final segment is all about putting your new skills into action. You'll have the opportunity to create your own prompts tailored to hypothetical work scenarios. This hands-on experience is designed to build your confidence in using generative AI as a collaborative tool. At the end of the session, we'll share and discuss these prompts in small groups, providing feedback and ideas on how to refine and apply them in real work environments.

Who Should Attend? Students of all majors, alumni, and UO faculty and staff who are interested in staying ahead of the curve in the evolving job market and experimenting with generative AI tools.
