Prompting with Purpose: Generative AI at Work
April 26
10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

You’ve already heard that AI is reshaping the professional landscape. In this two-hour interactive workshop, you will learn how Generative AI tools are being integrated into various industries today, and how you can leverage prompting techniques to gain a competitive edge in your career.

Overview of Generative AI in the Workplace: The workshop begins with an engaging overview of how generative AI is reshaping work. You'll gain insights into real-world applications, from automating routine tasks to driving innovation in fields like marketing, design, and data analysis. This section aims to provide you with a solid understanding of AI's current role and potential in a professional setting.

Learn Prompting Tips and Skills: The core of the workshop focuses on developing practical prompting skills. We'll explore techniques for crafting effective prompts that can aid in common workplace tasks such as report writing, data interpretation, creative brainstorming, and problem-solving. Through interactive examples and guided exercises, you will learn how to communicate with AI tools to get the best results for your specific needs.

Create and Share Work-Ready Prompts: The final segment is all about putting your new skills into action. You'll have the opportunity to create your own prompts tailored to hypothetical work scenarios. This hands-on experience is designed to build your confidence in using generative AI as a collaborative tool. At the end of the session, we'll share and discuss these prompts in small groups, providing feedback and ideas on how to refine and apply them in real work environments.

Who Should Attend? Students of all majors, alumni, and UO faculty and staff who are interested in staying ahead of the curve in the evolving job market and experimenting with generative AI tools.

6:30–8:30 p.m.
Ford Alumni Center Giustina Ballroom

You are invited to the International Business and Economics Club's 2024 Black Tie Dinner! This event is free and open to all UO students, and it is a great way to connect with business professionals from across Oregon over a catered meal. The dinner will be held May 20th from 6:30 PM- 8:30 PM in the Giustina Ballroom located in the Ford Alumni Center. While formal attire is not required, this is a networking dinner and so we highly encourage at least business casual attire (shoot for Black Tie if possible!). Our executive team and invited professionals will be dressing formally. This year we are spotlighting Vietnam and therefore Vietnamese cuisine will be provided, along with a performance and guest speaker relating to Vietnam. We hope to see you there!

Spots are limited, so if you are planning on attending please fill out the RSVP form here ASAP.
