Biography:

Stephanie Vardavas is an original member of the Sports Product Management program faculty and has been teaching second-year students since 2016. She has enjoyed a varied career spanning more than 45 years in sports business, and she is one of a very small number of attorneys who has represented a major sports league, athletes, an athlete representation agency, major sports events, and a major sponsor.

She began her career at Major League Baseball in 1979 and retired from Nike in 2011. At Nike, she worked in sports marketing, product safety and regulatory compliance, and trademarks. Since leaving Nike, she has continued to practice in those areas and also advises nonprofit organizations. She is a cofounder of 6453 Alumni, an association of former Nike employees and Nike sponsored athletes. She was a board member (and board member emeritus) of the Sports Lawyers Association from 1995 until 2021 and is a former chair of the Oregon Commission for Women.

Vardavas holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale and a Juris Doctorate from Fordham Law School. She is admitted to practice law in New York and Oregon and before the Supreme Court of the United States.
