Granholm is a certified financial planner and teaches the Financial Accounting and Reporting course at the Portland-based Oregon Executive MBA.
Granholm is the CEO and founder of Box One, Inc., an organization that provides custom financial training for a broad range of companies and universities. For the past twenty-five years, her training has centered on helping session participants to understand and use financial information, connect strategy, and finance, and to appreciate how decisions and actions impact an organization’s financials.
Granholm's teaching and consulting background includes engagements with Fortune 500 organizations, universities, and professional associations. Over the years she has delivered financial courses for numerous universities, including Portland State Univeristy, Oregon Health Sciences University, University of Oregon, University of California-San Diego, University of California-Irvine, Southern Methodist University, and San Diego State University. Her clients for custom corporate financial courses include Cisco Systems, Costco, Standard Insurance, San Diego Children’s Hospital, Wells Fargo, Sequent/IBM, Mission Foods, Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Sybase/Oracle, Boeing Company, Hewlett-Packard, The Regence Group, Tektronix, and The Board of Regents of the University of California.
Prior to founding Box One, Granholm served in a variety of financial roles—from financial analyst and controller to CFO/CEO—during a twenty-five year period at myriad organizations, including The Washington Post Company, The Smithsonian, and Hanna Andersson. She has specific industry expertise in the technology, medical, and retail/distribution industries. She spent her early career working for large companies/organizations and then another fifteen years working as an interim CFO. As a result, she has extensive financial experience working with a range of organizational sizes—from large multinationals to small start-ups.
Granholm has served on a number of different boards including as a board member/treasurer for the Girl Scouts, Columbia River Council; board member/president of the Portland Youth Philharmonic; board member for the YWCA of Portland; board member for the Portland Women’s Foundation; president of the Orange County Chapter of the Stanford Business School Alumni Association; member for the Management of Innovation and Technology Advisory Board; and member of the Food Industry Leadership Advisory Board.
In 2011, she was elected to Stanford Associates, and she has been an Angel Oregon investor since 2008.
