Cesar Sanchez, MBA '04 came to the University of Oregon's MBA program with a degree in finance and international business from Loyola Marymount University. That background, combined with his studies at the Lundquist College's Warsaw Sports Marketing Center, has propelled his career in sports marketing. Now with Kia Motors America, he previously held positions with organizations and firms including the Los Angeles Angels, Mitsubishi, and Fox Sports Latin America.
Describe your position and role.
As the sports marketing manager at Kia Motors America, I oversee the entire sports sponsorship portfolio for the company. This includes negotiating agreements and executing experiential activations. Our partners include the NBA and 11 of its teams, LeBron James, the LPGA (including our titled Kia Classic), the College Football Hall of Fame, and—via our parent company Kia Motors Corporation—the Australian Open and FIFA.
How has your Warsaw Center experience shaped your professional career?
The Warsaw Center was instrumental in my transition to a sports marketing career. It provided me with the confidence, tools, and knowledge to excel in leadership roles.
What key business trends are you following right now?
I'm following emerging technologies that enable us to better track metrics at vehicle displays, eSports platforms, and consumer purchasing behavior.
What is your favorite social media platform for personal use and what is your favorite social media platform for business purposes?
My favorite social media platform for personal use is Instagram; my favorite for business is LinkedIn.
What do you miss about Eugene?
The fresh air and Ducks football at Autzen Stadium.
