Provost’s Innovation Challenge Launch
The start of the new year kicked off with the launch of the Provost’s Innovation Challenge, our annual ‘big idea’ business competition. Formerly called QuackHatch, the Provost’s Innovation Challenge is open to students of all majors and one of the Lundquist Center for Entrepreneurship’s signature student events and will award $10,000 in seed funding for student venture development.
This year’s competition challenges teams to develop impactful ventures that address societal and environmental issues. Student teams will be paired with mentors who will help the founders develop their business model and perfect their pitch. On March 11, finalists will compete in front of a group of judges for funding and the opportunity to represent the university at Invent Oregon, a statewide collegiate invention competition organized by Portland State University. Previous competition participants have gone on to participate in national competitions, join regional accelerators, and launch actual companies.
