Oregon’s New Venture Championship (NVC) started in 1992 as a friendly competition between the University of Oregon and Portland State University. Through the 1990s, the event gathered attention and participants from around the United States. Since 2000, NVC has hosted international teams from Europe, South America, and Asia.
The event quickly grew to become a stop on a global circuit of business plan competitions, and it has been recognized as a pioneer in both the format and function. NVC is known for its level of engagement with the Oregon business community, as well as the personal interactions between teams, judges, and fellow competitors.
Sadly, NVC was cancelled this year due to the rapid societal changes brought about by the coronavirus pandemic. The University of Oregon remains committed to hosting the New Venture Championship again in 2021.
Event staff thank the Lundquist College of Business leadership and support team for their work as we navigated this change. It’s also critical to recognize the efforts of the student team at Allen Hall Advertising who were in the process of producing fantastic marketing and public relations efforts for the event.
