The Power and Potential of Entrepreneurship

Minor in Business Administration

On May 12 the Lundquist College of Business welcomed guest speaker Victor Garcia, the founding director of the Cincinnati Children's Trauma Center and professor of surgery and pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine.

Garcia's lecture, entitled “The Reason We Haven't Solved the Gang Violence Problem: The Power, Potential, and Imperatives of Entrepreneurship," looked at how the fields of social entrepreneurship, sustainability, innovation engineering, and marketing tie in with social systems and race relations. Garcia shared his perspectives on gang violence from the point of view of a surgeon who has seen child victims come through his trauma center.

You can also view Dr. Garcia's TED talk "A System of Violence" on YouTube.

This presentation was sponsored by the University of Oregon Department of Marketing, UO American Marketing Association, and the college's CEO Network.
