Ever wonder where the metals in your cell phone came from? What about your laptop? MBA students in Lundquist Professor of Sustainable Management Michael Russo's course in Sustainable Business Development took on the challenge of tracking some of these down, in a real-life consulting project suggested by electronics giant Hewlett-Packard.
We are pleased to announce that on April 9, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) fully reaccredited the Lundquist College of Business through 2017. With only 649 institutions out of 12,600 holding the recognition, this puts us in the top 5 percent of business schools worldwide--no mean feat in itself.
Sixteen teams of entrepreneurially minded graduate students came to Portland, Oregon, to test their mettle in the University of Oregon's New Venture Championship.

Billing itself as "the world's largest crowd-sourcing platform" and dedicated to tackling issues related to global poverty, the Hult Global Case Challenge is a forum that challenges students from all over the world to find ways to do business that make the world a better place. For the first time ever, a team from the Oregon MBA was one of the 300 chosen from more than 4,000 applicants to compete in this year's competition.
Planned and executed from start to finish by its student members, the UO American Marketing Association's annual Main Event provides an opportunity for students and local business professionals to spend an evening meeting and networking. Around 170 Lundquist College alums and friends joined Dean Kees de Kluyver and Warsaw Sports Marketing Center director Paul Swangard at Southern California's Indian Wells Tennis Garden for the Warsaw-Thurston Award Gala--and a weekend of tennis-centric fun. Now in its second year, the annual award honors the memories of Jim Warsaw and Annalee Thurston by recognizing the achievements of an individual who has advanced opportunities for women in the business of sport.
For more than a decade, volunteers from the Lundquist College's accounting fraternity Beta Alpha Psi have been making tax time a little easier for Eugene-area residents, by providing free preparation of simple federal and state tax returns through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, an initiative of the Internal Revenue Service. To volunteer, students must attend at least one basic training session and pass an online exam administered by the Internal Revenue Service.
