Accounting forms the core of businesses large and small. Its broader implications extend to government policy and international relations.

With the national and international business economy constantly evolving, our accounting faculty members keep ahead of the curve through their engagement with ongoing research.

We provide undergraduate and masters students with excellent conceptual and technical skills that will allow them to excel in productive and successful careers as future business leaders in public, corporate, or governmental accounting. The school also actively contributes to creating knowledge by conducting and publishing high-quality scholarly research, and by training PhD students to become future teachers and scholars.

3+1 Accounting Scholar and 3+1 Finance Scholar - Applications Open

First-year UO students that entered with 25 or more AP, IB, or transfer credits are eligible to apply to become 3+1 Scholars. As 3+1 Scholars, students can graduate with an undergrad degree in three years and reserve the fourth year to earn a specialized master's degree through the Lundquist College of Business: Master of Accounting (MAcc) or Master of Science in Finance (MSF).

Admitted 3+1 scholars receive:

Graduate application fee waiver GMAT/GRE test waiver Guaranteed xcholarship if undergrad cumulative GPA is 3.25 or higher

Applications to become a 3+1 Accounting Scholar or 3+1 Finance Scholar are open February 1-15.

About 3+1 Accounting Scholars

As a 3+1 Accounting Scholar, students are on a fast-track to a career in accounting. Earning a Master of Accounting will achieve the necessary number of credits to sit for CPA exams, prepare for career through professional development, and give more opportunities to promote faster than those who do not have an advanced degree. To be eligible to apply to MAcc program, students need to major in accounting for their bachelor's degree and maintain a 3.0 GPA in cumulative and accounting courses (3.25 GPA will be needed to receive 3+1 Scholar benefits).  

About 3+1 Finance Scholars

High achieving undergrad students can become 3+1 Finance Scholars to reserve their fourth year to pursue a Master of Science in Finance degree. The MSF is ideal for those targeting a coveted career as a financial analyst, in investment banking, corporate finance, and more. The MSF is STEM certified; international students are eligible to work in the United States for up to 36 months after graduate (standard is 12-month OPT period). Students do not need to be major in business or finance; students from other quantitative majors are competitive for admission.

Get started exploring and analyzing your data quickly in Tableau, using visual cues that help you see the answers to the questions you have.

About the Instructor

Emily Miley, an analytics consultant with Interworks, has always approached problem-solving by understanding different perspectives and staying curious. Whether it's rock climbing, learning how to fly fish, or solving Hanayama puzzles, she believes in the importance of being a lifelong learner. After moving to Portland and graduating from the University of Oregon, she transitioned from a data visualization firm working with non-profits to building a data and analytics program for the City of Portland's 311 program. Now, as an analytics consultant for InterWorks, Emily is excited to use her curiosity and ability to see from multiple points of view to help clients get the most out of their data.
