With the national and international business economy constantly evolving, our accounting faculty members keep ahead of the curve through their engagement with ongoing research.

We provide undergraduate and masters students with excellent conceptual and technical skills that will allow them to excel in productive and successful careers as future business leaders in public, corporate, or governmental accounting. The school also actively contributes to creating knowledge by conducting and publishing high-quality scholarly research, and by training PhD students to become future teachers and scholars.

Beta Alpha Psi invites you to explore a variety of opportunities and career paths at our Meet the Firms event, during which a broad range of public and industry firms looking to hire accountants. This is an amazing opportunity to learn more about a firm of interest, its employees, and any positions they are looking to fill.

Want to learn about accounting careers from professionals prior to the main event or ask questions in an informal setting to settle your nerves? Two panel sessions featuring two different groups of firms will take place simultaneously before the main networking event.

Get started exploring and analyzing your data quickly in Tableau, using visual cues that help you see the answers to the questions you have, and see how much easier and faster it can be to communicate with data when using techniques based in cognitive science.

Using the foundational concepts and techniques learned in this training, you will be able to identify insights, highlight those insights, and share your findings in interactive dashboards that encourage your audience to engage with your data and ask deeper questions.

About the Instructor

Emily Miley, an analytics consultant at Interworks, has always approached problem-solving by understanding different perspectives and staying curious. Whether it's rock climbing, learning how to fly fish, or solving Hanayama puzzles, she believes in the importance of being a lifelong learner. After moving to Portland and graduating from the University of Oregon, she transitioned from a data visualization firm working with nonprofits to building a data and analytics program for the City of Portland's 311 program. Now, as an analytics consultant for InterWorks, she is excited to use her curiosity and ability to see from multiple points of view to help clients get the most out of their data.

Prepare for a future in today's dynamic business environment—enhance your data analysis and visualization skills with Power BI during this virtual Professional Edge training.

In the organizations you will work for, vast amounts of data will be collected every day, and your challenge will be to make sense of it. Excel spreadsheets have their place, but they're static, limited in their ability to visualize data, and time-consuming to build and use. In this training, you will be equipped with the skills to move beyond the confines of stagnant data and transform it into a living, breathing dashboard.

NOTE: This training requires access to a computer running a Windows operating system. Power BI is NOT available on MacOS computers, including MacBooks.
