Planning is underway for an unforgettable 2018-19 academic year at the Warsaw Sports Marketing Center as we celebrate a quarter-century of global sports business leadership and continue the legacy of sportswear licensing pioneer James H. Warsaw, after whom the center was named in 1993.
In addition to marking a commemorative year honoring Jim Warsaw's vision, the center looks forward with gusto at the coming years of Warsaw Center excellence.
“We will honor not only the last day of the first 25 years, but the first day of the next 25," said Whitney Wagoner, director of the Warsaw Sports Marketing Center, who was mentored by Jim Warsaw before his passing in 2009. “We aim to keep the space of sports business moving forward through leadership. This means doubling down on our DNA—creative, innovative approaches to the business of sport. As the industry's needs change, we will deliver products, topics, and experiences the students of the past didn't have."
Events around the center's silver anniversary are being scheduled throughout 2018 and 2019. A celebration in Eugene is being planned for fall, and events will be organized as part of Lundquist College study tour dates in cities including Seattle, San Francisco, and New York City.
Warsaw Center alumni and friends can also look forward to opportunities for even more interaction on social media, as well as stories about alumni achievements and forward-looking perspectives on what the next 25 years will bring to the sports business industry.
“This year is the perfect time for our supporters to affirm their engagement with the center and to renew past connections," Wagoner said. “We are better positioned than ever to lead the sports business space, and that is due to the amazing work of our students, faculty, alumni, advisory board and industry partners."
