Each winter, the first-year cohort travels to Seattle to meet with senior executives at several leading sports organizations and fortune 500 companies including the Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Sounders, Microsoft, T-Mobile, and more. In the spring term, they head for San Francisco to meet industry leaders at some of the most high-profile sports organizations and innovative companies on the West Coast. Stops in past years have included the Golden State Warriors, the North Face, Facebook, Twitter, WME IMG, the Pac 12, GMR Marketing, Twitch, and Visa.
In September, shortly before the start of their second year in the program, students experience Asia first-hand by visiting such cities as Beijing, Shanghai, and Singapore through the school's Engaging Asia study tour. Along with unforgettable cultural experiences, like visiting the Great Wall of China, students tour companies and factories, participate in marketing events, attend lectures given by executives at leading firms, and network with top executives. Past stops have been the NBA China, Nike, the NFL, Li Ning, Wieden & Kennedy, Sport Singapore, and more.
Program travel rounds out with the second year east coast U.S. trip to New York City. In-depth meetings with some of the most influential people in sports make for an incredible experience. Students visit with media and apparel companies, agencies, teams and leagues, and other sports industry influencers over four full days of intense seminars, small group meetings, and special events geared to provide an extra edge in the job market. Companies visited on past tours include the NFL, the NBA, Nike, ESPN, Wasserman, and MLS.
Throughout the two-year journey, the cohort visits Portland based industry leading organizations 3-4 times per year. Visits include trips to the Portland Trail Blazers, Nike, adidas, Columbia Sportswear, and more. The end result is valuable insight into the industry from outside the classroom.
